Humble Beginnings
In 1902, Ray White moved to Crows Nest, Queensland, after his family’s business venture failed in the remote west. With determination, he set up shop in a disused railway shed, selling anything the local community needed—pianos, buggy harnesses, stoves, and more.
On December 7, 1907, he held his first land auction, selling 12 buildings on the Nokomis Estate. This moment marked the beginning of a tradition that remains at the core of Ray White’s success today.
Expanding into insurance sales and growing his network, Ray White’s reputation flourished. He took his rural connections and people-first approach to Brisbane, laying the foundation for a real estate dynasty that would grow into Australia’s most recognised name in property—spanning the nation and reaching markets worldwide.
